RIVERS focuses on changing the way we understand the relationship between humans and “Nature”. The RIVERS project studies the way in which water conflicts around the world pose new questions regarding the anthropocentric boundaries of the human rights paradigm. One of the main questions is in regard to “inter-legal translation”, meaning the challenges facing law practitioners that defend indigenous arguments in court that support their ontological viewpoint on the nature and relationship to water.
