'18 WINTERS' follows migrant teenagers over the course of one Icelandic winter as they adapt to a new society and navigate the fragile transition into adulthood. Living in a state of uncertainty, they balance school, work, and bureaucratic limbo while searching for stability, belonging, and a sense of home.
Set against Iceland’s stark winter landscape, the film offers an intimate observational portrait of young people coming of age in exile — caught between childhood and independence, hope and precarity. As public debate and shifting attitudes place their futures in question, '18 WINTERS' explores resilience, identity, and what it means to build a life when everything feels temporary.
