Looking for Essam Abdallah

After being captivated by a song he heard as a child in the 80s, filmmaker Yasser Naeim embarked on a decade-long quest to find out the story of the songwriter Essam Abdallah. Like Pandora's box, what he and his collaborators uncovered took on a life of its own. Their generation has hardly any memory of the period in which they grew up, as many documents and archives are missing. The film is an investigation into the hidden stories of a decade that might hold a key to the real history of their country and their own destiny.
