Colm O'Callaghan
I am a Senior Editorial Executive at Raidio Teilifís Éireann [RTÉ], Ireland’s Public Service Media provider. As Head of Specialist Factual Content, I commission for linear and on-line in the areas of History, Natural History, Wildlife, Diversity, Sport, Music and Education. I have responsibility for RTÉ's in-house documentary unit.
I sit on RTÉ's Editorial Standards Board.
I am a member of the Governing Body at the Institute of Art, Design and Technology [IADT] in Dún Laoghaire, Dublin. I also sit on the Board’s Audit and Risk Committee.
I am a former freelance print journalist and have worked with The Irish Examiner, Hot Press, The Sunday Tribune and Melody Maker among numerous others. I have worked as a free-lance director and programme maker and as a road and tour manager with numerous musicians and live performers.
I document social history on a music and culture blog, run with Martin O'Connor, called The Blackpool Sentinel. I have a first-class Masters Degree in Modern Irish History, specialising in Irish entertainment history and the development of popular culture in independent Ireland.
