A Land That Time Forgot

Director Denis Pavlovic’s humorous yet thought-provoking journey into a modern Soviet reality follows two of the largest tourist agencies in the globally unrecognized breakaway region of Moldova: Pridnestrovie (internationally known as Transnistria). Here, they strive to turn one of the world’s most overlooked areas into a holiday hotspot. An amusing tale unfolds as the oldest agency in the region attempts to modernize its business model for the future, while the latest one goes all in, aiming to become a full-fledged tourist franchise. Meanwhile, the film crew becomes an active presence, starts searching for the biggest post-Soviet attractions and, above all, the true soul of the region itself.
