An Inconvenient Doom

2024 will be the most consequential year in human history. Because how we approach and handle advanced AI systems will determine, if we are about to enter a new era of unimaginable possibilities and prosperity – or if we will cease to exist.

Sounds far-fetched?

In May 2023 most AI scientists and CEOs of the big AI companies warned about the extreme dangers to the human species from advanced AI by signing the statement: “Mitigating the risk of extinction from AI should be a global priority alongside other societal-scale risks such as pandemics and nuclear war.”

But unfortunately, almost nobody took this warning seriously and AI companies are locked in a frantic race dynamic to be the first to develop next level AI.

“An Inconvenient Doom” tries to explain the extremely complicated existential threat from AI, tells the stories of the experts and activists with their emotional plea to humanity and explores why journalists, politicians and society might not react in time to avoid catastrophe.
