The Kings of Babel

The Kings of Babel is a story of coming of age and striving for dreams in the shadow of war. Through unprecedented access to Iraq's youth motorbike gangs, this immersive, observational documentary explores the past, present and future for young Iraqis. Death-defying stunts, online notoriety and ecstatic crowds collide with frustrated ambitions, collective grief and deep intergenerational trauma. Our immersive, character-led film explores Iraq’s misunderstood ‘Ta'aliq’ subculture (the Iraqi word for bike tricks or Bikelife), a community which represents rebellion, escape and, for many, a way of life.
