A Marathi speaking middle-class family, the Patil’s live in Mumbai, India. Suresh (52) is a lawyer. Archana (50) is a homemaker. Rashmi is their 22-year-old happy go lucky daughter. Although hearing and speech impaired, she is a classical dancer and designs jewelry. In the center of Patil’s family is Jatin (20). He is a person with autism. The family has single-handedly struggled to live up to the challenges of this unique situation with a sense of acceptance and humor. Jatin will be at the center of the film. Through his story and events in his life, we get to know Rashmi, Archana, and Suresh. Recently, Jatin has left home to pursue higher studies. He is now facing the ‘real’ world. Mother – Son – Siblings have been separated for the first time. Will Jatin be able to cope with the real world? Climbing Uphill encapsulates an unnerving unique phase of a close-knit family in transition.
