From the Documentary Campus Masterschool to International Screens: Audun Amundsen’s Click The Link Below
What happens when the dream of online success becomes an industry of its own?
That question lies at the heart of Click The Link Below, the latest documentary by Norwegian filmmaker, producer and lecturer Audun Amundsen.
Amundsen developed the project during his time at the Documentary Campus Masterschool. Since then, the film has gone on to an impressive international journey, premiering at major documentary festivals, securing international broadcast sales and now reaching audiences directly through TVOD.
Looking Behind the Promise of Online Success
Click The Link Below takes viewers inside the rapidly expanding world of online marketing and digital entrepreneurship, looking beyond the polished promises of success to explore the systems and strategies operating behind the scenes.
The documentary brings together a diverse group of insiders, critics, creators and leading experts in persuasion, ambition, happiness and digital life.
Among the voices featured are Frances Haugen, Facebook whistleblower and advocate for social media accountability; Robert Cialdini, author of Influence and a leading expert on the science of persuasion; Robert Waldinger, Director of the Harvard Study of Adult Development; and online marketing and entrepreneurship figures including Russell Brunson and Tai Lopez.
The film also features YouTube creator and online guru culture critic Mike Winnet, as well as other voices from across the industry.
Rather than simply examining online marketing as a business phenomenon, Amundsen uses the subject to explore wider questions about contemporary life.
How are algorithms amplifying ambition and hype? Where does influence become manipulation? What does “making it” really look like away from the cameras? And how does the pursuit of success shape our happiness, identity and relationships?
From the Masterschool to the International Festival Circuit
The project’s journey continued well beyond its development at Documentary Campus.
Click The Link Below premiered at DocEdge New Zealand in 2025, where it was selected for the festival’s Oscar-qualifying competition programme.
The film subsequently screened at Nordisk Panorama, where it was selected for the New Nordic Voice Awards Competition, as well as at Kosmorama in Norway and Biografilm Festival in Italy in 2026.
These festival screenings have helped bring the film to audiences and industry professionals across different territories, while opening new opportunities for its international distribution.
The TV version is represented internationally by Sideways Film and has so far been sold to PTS in Taiwan, RTBF in Belgium, VG in Norway, SIC in Portugal and MBC MENA.
Reaching Audiences Beyond the Festival Circuit
Following its festival and broadcast journey, Click The Link Below is now entering another stage of its release, with the film available directly to audiences through TVOD.
Audiences can choose between the 58-minute TV Cut and the 104-minute Director’s Cut.
The Director’s Cut includes 14 full, unedited interviews with contributors including Frances Haugen, Robert Cialdini, Russell Brunson and Tai Lopez, alongside an additional Insight Bundle exploring some of the themes raised by the documentary.
The accompanying material looks at everything from online marketing funnels and manufactured urgency to algorithms, influence, ambition, happiness and the emotional cost of the digital success economy.
