Zaïde Bil
Zaïde Bil (°1990, Groningen, NL) is a Dutch–Surinamese documentary filmmaker based in Brussels, Belgium. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism from Windesheim University of Applied Sciences (Zwolle, NL) and completed both a Bachelor and Master in Documentary Directing at RITCS School of Arts (Brussels). Her background in journalism, combined with her cinematic practice, enables her to conduct in-depth research while crafting stories that resonate with emotional and human complexity.
Her graduation film MEMRE YU earned her the VAF Wildcard for Documentary (2018). It was shown on several festivals, broadcasted on NPO-VPRO and Omrop Fryslân and distributed on VOD by Dalton. With the Wildcard grant, Zaïde created and self-produced PARASISI (2026), her first feature doc, that premiered at Filmfestival Oostende in February 2026.
Zaïde co-directed and co-wrote the documentary series SHE THEY US, an exploration of intersectional feminism that premiered at both Film Fest Gent (2023) and Filmfestival Oostende (2024) and won the Ensor Award for Best Documentary Series in 2025. Produced by Cassette for timescapes, the series marked the beginning of an ongoing collaboration: together with the same creative team, she is currently developing WHAT ABOUT MEN?, a new documentary series on masculinity.
