Batland follows the world's leading bat expert, Linfa Wang - notorious for giving bats a bad name. He uncovered the link between bats and the deadly Hendra, Nipah and SARS viruses. In 2027, he flips the script. Killing bats can do more than trigger the next pandemic. It could also cost us something unexpected. "Bats are the future of modern medicine," Wang says today. He believes the future of medicine lies in copying what bats do. This may help fight aging, extend our lives, and ward off cancer. Human trials begin next year. Around his work, the film travels the world to reveal the hidden capabilities of a feared but misunderstood creature.
