First domesticated 7,000 years ago, chilli has seared a path around the world. Scientists have delved into its fiery depth searching for the miracle cure to the world's ills. Can chilli lower your cholestoral level or blood pressure? Will it relieve your arthritis or stomach ulcer? Or would it actually cause your skin cancer? In Malaysia two men are banking on chilli. One hopes to put more and more chillies on Malaysian dining tables while the other is hopeful his breakthrough will let Malaysians, the fattest in South East Asia, eat themselves thin. This proposed documentary goes on an inspired trip around and into the inner working of the chilli, examining the promise of the world's hottest vegetable and the passion and fears it arouses.
