On the Border Between Fiction and Documentary

Discovery Campus dedicated this weekend to these borderline areas of the genre, during which a number of internationally known directors and producers and their editors presented current documentary productions and gave insights into their working methods. This meant the opportunity to address such exciting questions as: must devices such as re-enactment be used these days in order to get a non-fictional film scheduled at peak time? Is it acceptable to falsify archive material? Must the viewer have re-enactments pointed out to him? What is allowed? Where does the border lie between documentary and feature films? How can acted scenes be integrated elegantly, convincingly, and economically into non-fictional films? During this weekend, we examined the future development of the genre on the international market. An event fully packed with cutting edge productions and intensive discussions on a high professional level.
