Docutainment in all its guises is a genre that has only one cardinal rule, it falls between the two traditional pillars of television…information and entertainment. A decade ago it first appeared on mass at TV markets as a response to deregulation, cash strapped corporations and the proliferation of cable networks. Now docutainment programmes dominate TV ratings top ten.

The May Munich session will explore what makes these shows tick. Where did they come from? Where are they going? We introduce a one stop shop for market intelligence and a tool kit for the docutainment producer with advice from specialists in the field like Powderhouse Productions from Boston. Meet the makers of “Die Ludolfs”, local producers, with their own successful format. Join commissioning editors, producers and distributors from France, Germany, the UK and the US for two reality filled days as we search for the script of life unscripted!
