Entering the International Market with Documentaries
The Panel Discussion was organized by the Middlegerman Media Fund (MDM), the MEDIA Antenna Berlin-Brandenburg and DISCOVERY CAMPUS e.V. During the Panel Discussion broadcasters like ARTE, BBC, Canal+ or Discovery Europe presented their slots and programming tendencies. Dates, formats, target audience, inhouse, aqcuisition and co-production were topics of the discussion. Other questions dealt with were: How does a commissioning editor fill his slots? Which are the current trends in the non-fiction market. Which role do German documentary producers and filmmakers play on the international scene? Furthermore the question of going international was an important point for discussion: Slots and audiences? The producer as a partner? Experiences with German projects and professionals. What makes a documentary internationally attractive? International co-productions – new approaches or Europudding?
