Pitching Session of the Discovery Campus Masterschool 2005
Discovery Campus proudly welcomed a distinguished group of more than 50 international experts from Asia, Europe and North America at the Final Pitching Session which took place from 3-4 October, 2005. These key decisionmakers not only listened to the pitches of the 16 developed Masterschool projects 2005 but also to 5 guest and 2 surprise pitches. After each project pitched, they gave advice on how and where to best finance it. The feedback on the projects was very positive and nearly all of them received additional funding or full financing.
Apart from the pitches of the 23 new documentary projects, these two exciting days offered a good insight into the needs and trends of programming in the international non-fiction market and gave a clear idea of the slots and profiles of the respective international broadcasters. For the first time, Discovery Campus welcomed speakers from 1+1 Channel, Ukraine; Aljazeera International, United Kingdom; NHK, Japan; SVT, Sweden; TV Catalunya, Spain and Yunnan TV, China. Slot presentations of key German documentary commissioning editors rounded off an absolutely successful Pitching Session in Leipzig. The 240 delegates of the Pitching Session of the Discovery Campus Masterschool 2005 coming from 29 different countries enjoyed the event as a great networking opportunity and a valuable chance to meet the decisionmakers in an open and relaxed atmosphere.
