Final Pitching 2002

The Art of Pitching

Pitching Session of the Discovery Campus Masterschool 2002

Discovery Campus invited documentary filmmakers, producers, distributors and commissioning editors to take part in the final pitching of the DISCOVERY CAMPUS MASTERSCHOOL 2002, where the 17 participants presented their documentary projects developed in this year’s master class to 30 international decision makers. The event offered a great chance to meet commissioning editors and distributors from Europe and Northern America in a personal and friendly atmosphere. One could get a good insight into the slots and profiles of the broadcasters, their programming needs and trends in the international non-fiction market. The decision makers came from companies such as AAC Fact, ARTE Strasbourg, ARTE France, AVRO, Beyond, BBC, Canal +, Channel 4, Discovery Channel Germany, Discovery Networks International, HBO, MDR, ORF, TV Ontario, TV 2 Danmark, WDR, Southern Star, SWR, YLE, ZDF, ZDF Enterprises and others. Discovery Campus and the ‘Days of Documentary Berlin-Brandenburg’ organized by Salzgeber & Co. Medien together organized an extra workshop preceding the pitching session on Friday, 6th December. It was dedicated to “Success with documentaries on the international market”. Producers and commissioning editors analysed documentaries which were successful on TV or in cinemas in three case studies. They gave precious advice during panel discussions on how to establish oneself in the international market.
