The documentary tells the story of a meeting between two cultures: a couple, a Greek sailor and a Japanese woman, Sayome. Thirty-five years ago, Sayome left her native Japan to travel across the world with the man who would become her husband. Today, she takes their son to Japan, to discover his roots. A human and universal story.

The jury, chaired by French director Claude Lelouche, selected SAYOME among 255 films in competition, produced by 182 international TV channels, representing 72 countries.

Sayome (2011) co-produced by Anemon, ERT, ARTE, the Greek Film Center and supported by the Media Programme of the EU, has also recently won the FIPRESCI award at the Thessaloniki Documentary Festival and the ORPHEUS Awards for Best Documentary and Audience Choice at the LA Greek Film Festival.
