Prix Europa Nomination for Divorce Albanian Style
Between 18 and 25 October 2008, the 22nd Edition of PRIX EUROPA will be taking place in Berlin and Potsdam, Germany. The festival for Television, Radio and Emerging Media invites the best productions from Europe as well as their makers and managers for competition.
PRIX EUROPA provides an annual forum for encounter in our continually changing media scene. It also offers an opportunity for dialogue with European media politicians. This year, 213 productions from 31 European countries were nominated. All 582 entries from 36 countries reflect how much Europe is a continent of contrasting individual experience.
We are happy to announce that Divorce Albanian Style by Bulgarian filmmaker and producer Adela Peeva was nominated in the section TV Documentary. The project was developed at the Discovery Campus Masterschool 2003, and since its premiere in 2007 has been invited to numerous festivals.
The film’s story takes place in the surreal world of 1960s communist Albania. As told by survivors of this extraordinary period, Divorce Albanian Style reveals the experience of the many thousands of families that were forcibly separated by the totalitarian regime of Enver Hodja, the longest-serving European dictator of the 20th century.
