DCM Participants Compete at Sheffield Doc/Fest
Sheffield Doc/Fest announced its film line-up for the 2008 festival yesterday. The festival, which runs from 5-9 November, will screen more than 100 films from directors from around the world, among them several Discovery Campus Masterschool participants.
Robert Cibis, participant of the current Masterschool edition, together with Lilian Franck (DCM 2001) presents Jesus Loves You, a film that follows members of Youth with a Mission who travel to the World Cup in Germany to share the Gospel with football fans.
Alexandru Solomon, also a participant in 2001, will be attending the festival and show his latest documentary, Cold Waves, a behind the scenes look at Ceausescu’s violent attempts to shut down Radio Free Broadcast, which illegally broadcasted music and pro-democracy propaganda in 1980s Romania.
The short documentary The Solitary Life of Cranes will be presented by Eva Weber (DCM 2007). The film is a mesmerizing insight into the secret view of the world seen by crane drivers.
Furthermore, Corridor #8, produced by AGITPROP’s Martichka Bozhilova (DCM 2004), will have its UK Premiere at Sheffield. Corridor #8 is a mosaic film combining fragments from the everyday lives of the characters that live along a non-existent Balkan road.
Both Robert Cibis and Eva Weber will present their latest documentary projects at the Discovery Campus Masterschool pitching session in Leipzig just a few days before Sheffield. Please find more information on the pitching here
