The Sleeping Elephant

The Sleeping Elephant follows the story of Daniela, the director of the film, as she digs in the land where she grew up to try and understand her place in the collective history of conflict over land and agrarian reform between landowning estate families and the indigenous communities. The history of her family is on both sides of the conflict. In her search for answers, Daniela travels through the territory and the history of the area with her indigenous filmmaker friend Miguel, asking the questions that could open a path to healing these historical wounds.
