The Men of the Village

THE MEN OF THE VILLAGE is a coming-of-age story set in a remote Georgian village. With a hybrid form of fiction, fantasy and documentary, the film follows Giga, a 11-year-old boy and his friends through several summers at his granny’s village. They spend their nights listen to granny’s old fairy tales and set out during the day to look for treasures and fight mysterious creatures. However, with the invasion of tourism, life starts to change in this quiet village. The film slowly reveal the transformation of the village and the disappearance of childhood and imaginations. The film weaves between tradition and modern world, childhood and adulthood, mythology and real life. It aims to create a cinematic experience that reminds us of the simple and genuine memories of nature, tradition and childhood.
