Marion Schmidt is a consultant and cultural manager based in Berlin, Germany. She is currently co-director of the Documentary Association of Europe, advisor to the DW Akademie Film Department and regularly works with international arts, culture and development organisations. Marion is a trainer and facilitator in the documentary and NGO sector, mediates and loves bringing people together. She sits on the steering committee of ARTEF - Anti Racism Taskforce European Film and on the board of NAAS Network e.V.. She believes in the need for structural change and in her cultural practice strives to create spaces where critical interaction is possible.

In the last 15 years, Marion has worked across Europe and the Middle East, including for the Goethe-Institut Cairo, the European Film Market and Social Enterprise UK. She is co-founder of DOX BOX e.V. and has organised public multidisciplinary arts events and conferences and worked with social enterprises and non-profit organisations in the UK, Egypt and Germany. She is the author of a guide to setting up an association in Germany and co-author of a strategic evaluation of a multi-donor project for GIZ (2021/22). Recently she co-authored a publication for ifa - Institut for Foreign Policy on strategies for more equitable support for international relocation in North-South contexts.

Marion holds a Master's degree in Arts Administration and Cultural Policy from the University of London, UK, and a Diploma in Events Management.
