From Titiwu to Lummerland

When Walter Oehmichen founded the Augsburger Puppenkiste in 1948, he wanted to complete his past as a soldier during WW II. When, in the 1960s, a commissioning editor of West-German TV accidentally became aware of the puppets a breathtaking success story began. The Augsburger Puppenkiste became the first and probably the most influential children‘s television program in Germany. It shaped the lives of generations with its anarchic plays. Although no longer on television, the theater in Augsburg is sold out every day and celebrates great success in the cinemas with puppet movies...

We want to explore this extraordinary phenomenon - how does a 4th generation puppet family business survive in times of VFX, Pixar and computer anime?
